Unplug and remove it by taking the hose clamps off each end. Once you have it out, clean it out with a good throttle body/intake cleaner.

08/01/2016· The contamination can come in the form of spider webs, potting compound from the MAF sensor itself, dirt that gets attached to oil on the MAF from an overoiled aftermarket air filter, and more. Anything that acts like insulation to the hot wire will cause this type of issue. The fix is as simple as cleaning the MAF sensor with an approved cleaner, which the technicians …

16/09/2020· MAF Sensor Replacement Cost. The average MAF sensor replacement cost is between 140 and 550, depending on the car model and labor costs. A Mass Air Flow Sensor costs 100 and 400 while the labor costs 40 to 150. The MAF sensor itself is often quite expensive, as you sometimes have to replace the whole MAF sensor housing.
The mass air flow (MAF) sensor, part of your vehicle’s electronic fuel injection system, is responsible for calculating the total amount of air entering the engine. A faulty MAF sensor can cause your vehicle to run too rich or run too lean. You’ll notice if the tailpipes eject black smoke or when the engine runs rough or backfires. You may also notice you’re filling up at the gas …
24/05/2018· Use mass air flow sensor cleaner (DO NOT SUBSTITUTE FOR ANY OTHER KIND OF CLEANER) to clean out the MAF sensor. Do this by spraying each side of the MAF sensor for 35 seconds, waiting 10 seconds, and then spraying it again for 35 seconds. Do not wipe it. The MAF sensor hot wires are very sensitive, and MAF sensor cleaner cleans and …

10/07/2021· The mass air flow can be tested with a scan tool that displays the live data. The airflow sensor readings at different rpms ( 1000, 2000, 3000) must be compared to the specifications or to the readings of a known good sensor. Read more about testing a mass air flow sensor. A faulty airflow sensor is very common in many cars ( BMW, VW ...

21/04/2010· More than likely you simply have a bad mass air flow sensor. As I explained before cleaning is usually not a solution. If the car were in the shop we would most likely skip a lot of the testing and install a known good mass air flow sensor and then monitor out fuel trim values to see if the sensor corrects them. It is much easier to do that than it is to run all the tests and …
03/08/2015· A mass (air) flow sensor (MAF) is used to find out the mass flowrate of air entering a fuelinjected internal combustion engine. The air mass information is necessary for the engine control unit (ECU) to balance and deliver the correct fuel mass to the engine. Air changes its density as it expands and contracts with temperature and pressure. In automotive applications, …
