The mass air flow (MAF) sensor, part of your vehicle’s electronic fuel injection system, is responsible for calculating the total amount of air entering the engine. A faulty MAF sensor can cause your vehicle to run too rich or run too lean. You’ll notice if the tailpipes eject black smoke or when the engine runs rough or backfires.
This P0102 diagnostic trouble code (DTC) means that there is a low condition detected in the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor or circuit. The PCM detects that the actual MAF sensor frequency signal is not performing within the normal expected range of the calculated MAF value.

Jul 11, 2021· Often, the solution for the code P0102 is to replace the mass air flow sensor if no other problems are found. A poorquality part can also cause the code P0102. It''s best to use an OEM sensor. The mass air flow sensor costs from 70 to 350. Replacing the sensor is easy. If the problem is fixed, the code P0102 will clear itself after driving.

Replacement Coolant Temperature Sensor: Shop Here. 4. Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor Failure. This sensor failure is common in all engines for the MK4 Jetta. I don’t want to downplay this problem because the Mass Air Flow (or MAF) Sensor is one of the most important engine sensors. If not maintained, it could leave your Jetta inoperable until fixed.
Aug 22, 2017· P0102 is the generic DTC (Data Trouble Code) for (Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input), and it would most likely be a fault with the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor. The MAF sensor could be dirty or faulty, and there might even be restricted air flow to the MAF sensor (like a plugged up air filter). Also be sure that there are no air or vacuum leaks in the …

Jan 19, 2020· The Code P0102 indicates that the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) is reporting inaccurate values. The Mass Air Flow sensor is designed to measure the amount of air taken into the engine. The sensor calculates the airflow and reports to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), and the PCM can determine the volume of fuel that enters the engine.
Nov 26, 2018· P0102 is a very common trouble code with the Volkswagen Jetta. It means the the Mass Air Flow (MAF) circuit is low, and that it is not performing within its specified operating range. We will cover exactly what that means and potential fixes for it below. It should be considered a high priority to fix, as the MAF sensor not reading properly can ...

Jun 11, 2018· Code P0102 Definition. Mass or Circuit Airflow (MAF) Circuit Low Voltage Input. What Does P0102 Mean? The Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor measures the amount of air entering the engine. When code P0102 is set, there is a low voltage output to the ECM, PCM, or ECU depending on your car type (check your owner’s manual for your specific car).
The average cost for a Volkswagen Jetta mass airflow sensor replacement is between 285 and 296. Labor costs are estimated between 42 and 53 while parts are priced at 242. This range does not include taxes and fees, and does not factor in your specific model year or unique location. Related repairs may also be needed.
The P0102 code is the code for a problem with the Mass Airflow (MAF) Sensor. It gives off a low voltage output to the Engine Control Unit. In order for the ECU to function properly, the MFA flow rate must be within a preset range of values and if the MFA communicates a number too low, the ECU won’t function effectively.
